Remember how I want to show the time

You can click the time that shows how much has been played to instead show how much is left, but next time you play a video, it reverts back to showing how much has been played. VLC should either remember that I clicked that or there should be a sitting to choose what I want (I looked around for settings and managed to break VLC). Thanks!
