Coverflow plugin for vlc linux KDE?

Postby FranEthics » 14 Jun 2011 15:35

Wouldn't be great if users could select files through a simple coverflow interface in vlc ? With an aasy and clean cut.

I am running kubuntu 11.04 and can't really put up with the native media players in KDE. None of them seems to able to perform that effect. And they provide too many useless info on the media that really make u cross eyed.
Compiling options? Don't really work for newbi like myself. Not enough details provided to the immature on those blogs.
So perhaps a simple plugin to install through ppa? Or Terminal?

Can anyone add this feature in repo?

I have the same problem. I find selecting my music through a cover flow interface to be easy, quick and stress free. I can't find a suitable media player in KDE (Kubuntu 11.10) that uses that effect. Amarok is plain rubbish. I use now vlc and minitunes but still looking for a suitable plugin for coverflow. I know there was an intellectual property issue with Apple Itunes and that might explain the lack of work in this sense. Last time I checked banshee and rhythmbox had a similar version of coverflow effect plugin developed which are not available in repo anymore. Tried to contact the developer, got info on how to compile in terminal with a mpd client of my choise. Tried to compile myself, didn't work at the end. I have heard of a plugin for vlc but I don't think we will ever find it in repo. Legal issues. Still looking and hoping for a miracle.
