Is It Possible To Have An "Edit Track" Function?

I think a great addition to VLC features would be an "Edit Track" function. Currently, I have to open up an audio editing software and import the song I want to edit.

I believe one-stop shopping with VLC would be extremely valuable: You listen to a song in VLC and you realize there are two-second gaps on either end. You want to cut them out. Wouldn't it be good to have a function whereby you right-click and select "Edit Audio Track With VLC" in the Context Menu?

That's my request. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know how difficult/complicated the process to implement this feature would be.

VLC isn't really designed to be audio editor. No sample accurate seeking etc. so I don't see any point in this.
