Not really, but you can do some thumbnails with VLC. Check the wiki.

Hi,

my firend. I dunno why VLC devs dont want to even consider this usefull feature, but I know it is not top priority over bug fixes and existing feature enhancements etc.

Lemme introduce to you KM Player - KM calls it 'storyboard' - ultra fast as I have used sevreal times since first install few weeks ago, better than media player classic's and ImagrGrabber's version and does not seem yto require DirectX to work :) :)

example (I found on another forum that was done by KM Player)

.... No I am not promoting KM over VLC, that is not the case

Any chance of this feature idea being re considered ,

it would be great for VLC for publishing puporses and KM Player is really a hefty ram sponge at times compared to the smooth running of VLC.

btw.. It could be placed next to the 'snapshot' in the main tool menu under say something like 'Thumbnail Snapshots' and then the VLC logo image can be watermarked onto the resulted image file which will identify that VLC made the thumbnail.

Create thumbnails with VLC and then, just merge them.

Create thumbnails with VLC and then, just merge them.
Do you mean take individual snapshots and manually merge them with an image editor?

I understand, it is not something really viable to add to VLC at the moment or ever, I understand. Thanks anyway Jean :)

Of course not! Use the scene module.

Could you explain how to use the scene module please?

i am looking for this "mpc like" thumbnail feature too

i made the suggestion some month ago but seems
vlc team is not very interested in adding this

and merge single pictures together....
u won't have infos about the movie on the screenshot
and a 1 button solution is the much better way

mpc hc, smplayer, bsplayer etc all have this feature
why not vlc ?

its not only for warez/xxx people usefull

if u have 100 movies
1.avi
2.avi
....

and want to see a specific movie
it would be good to have a thumbnail collection
and not only single screens

btw if vlc would have this feature some people who use mpc only because of that feature will switch to vlc... :-)

why not vlc ?
Current VLC core makes this quite difficult to implement from GUI side. And feature like this won't work for all streams/files since random access isn't always allowed.
