Shortcut key for A-B repeat

Load of thanks to all of the vlc team for the A-B repeat button; but it would be of great help if a customisable shortcut key for the same would be available at the Hotkey section.

Is it possible this is being implemented at all?

I'm an English teacher, and I use VLC for showing videos to my students. It's nearly the perfect media player. Speed changes, free skipping, subtitle and multi-language support... But for AB play, it is handy for me to be able to single out phrases that characters say in a video and loop them multiple times. AB is a perfect feature, but I need to be able to change the endpoints quickly, and preferably WITHOUT leaving fullscreen, and I have everything set up so that aside from this I never need to.

Is there some kind of consistency or design principle reason why this doesn't get a settable hotkey?

It's not a settable hotkeys, for now, because it is a hack

In fact I have been planning to greatly expand the possibilities of A->B repeat some day. I have added a note in our ticket system too keep shortcut keys in mind when we get around to reworking the A->B loops. Please be very patient, as it will likely take a lot of time before someone gets around to reworking the A->B loops.

Since you mentioned "greatly expand":
Might I also suggest A->B | Record = dump A through B to the default output directory and file? You could have a tip with mouse-over of the Record button ("Press Record now to record from A@13s to B@182s").
