Support for CrystalHD

Postby Gildebrand » 30 May 2010 15:46

Hi!
A lot of guys have tiny netbooks with poor performance, and like to use those to watch movies. But most of the netbooks don't have enough performance to play a 1080P video, and that is of course pretty boring to not be able to watch hi-def films on your netbook. Now, there is this decoder which i can install in my laptop, which makes it possible to watch hi-def films, but not in VLC. I think a lot of your users would like if you added support for Crystal HD decoder card. At least i know i would.

Why would you want to play 1080p films on a netbook? Their screens are much smaller than 1920x1200.

Netbooks usually have VGA or HDMI output. So you can connect those to HD televisions.

We had kind of a same problem with my friend. VLC can play 720p videos on laptop screen but it cannot send them to Full HD television.
Instead, Media Player Classic can play and send 720p videos to Full HD TV but one cannot set volume above 100 % in Media Player Classic :(
