Multiple Speeds via Scroll Wheel

Hello.

I use ArcSoft Total Media Theater to view my movies and DVD's. I also have an OEM copy of PowerDVD. These programs allow you to fast forward and reverse at multiple speeds, up to 32X or so, via the scroll wheel of the mouse.

I was wondering if VLC has such a feature, and if so, how is it used?

If such a feature is not currently available, then I'd like to add my voice to the feature requests, and hope for such a feature in the future.

One thing I like very much about VLC is it reads and plays movies in .ISO format. A very convenient feature for me.

I'm afraid that feature is woefully inadequate, for several reasons.

When I do that, there is still sound (which I don't want), the picture doesn't fast forward, and then when I try to go back to 1.0 (which isn't easy, because there's no simple way to return precisely to 1.0 speed), VLC crashes.

This feature would be great if:

1. The sound went off when you increased the speed.
2. The picture would advance accordingly.
3. You could see the speed at which you're advancing.
4. You could reset to 1.0 easily.
5. The program wouldn't crash.

Sorry, but seeing your questions, I am really not sure you are using VLC 1.0.3 on Windows or Linux

I'm using the most current version of VLC on Windows 7.

And I don't want to sound harsh or rude or anything like that. I'm just trying to get VLC set up the way I'm comfortable with it. Regrettably, it does so much, but for me, it also does so little.

For example, on the plus side, it plays movies in ISO format, which for me is its greatest advantage. On the negative side, I cannot play an entire folder's worth of MP3 audio files with it. If I select one or some files in a folder, it's all right, but if I select all, VLC doesn't even open. Windows Media Player opens up and plays it. I don't want that. Apparently, there is a limit to how many files I can select for a playlist at a time. If that is NOT correct, then VLC is not performing properly on my computer.

If I play a plain video file in any format, such as MPG, AVI, or even FLV, then the things I described take place. And I don't know if it remembers the position of a movie when you shut it down. It would be nice if VLC could provide you with the option of starting something from the beginning, or picking up where you left off. I do not know if such a feature is available.

Maybe it's just the way I have my system set up. Maybe I have too many things running in memory. But I can't get VLC to operate to my satisfaction. Yet.

At the risk of sounding too critical, with the exception of playing ISO files, it's not really filling my needs, yet.

Sorry, but if you have the latest version of VLC on Windows, then, click or right-clicking on the speed label shows a way to adjust speed, that matches 1. & 2. & 3. & 4. of your request.
