recording with video grabber (capture device)??

Hello, is it possible to record with the VLC (1.0.3) from an Video Grabber (capture device)???
I found already something, but recorded files in AVI are about 7 GigaByte(!!!) for about 10 Minutes! this is too big!!
Is there something else to adjust, getting a smaler file???

You have to transcode also if you want smaller files.

how is it to do?
(i just have recorded already a file from (internal) DVD-player, this file is about 1 GB for 30 minutes! thats acceptable! but is mpg!)
where can i adjust it, that i get a mpg.file??

If you use red recording button, you cannot transcode. So use Media -> Convert/Save... and select the capture device and transcoding options.
