x64 bit support + bug fix (windows)

Postby cclloyd9785 » 02 Dec 2009 04:23

I suggest x64 bit support. when i run it even with 4Gb of ram on my x64 system, it hums a bit loud because its x32 bit trying to take up as much of the 4GB ram as possible. x64 bits run faster, and with lower ram usage on a x64 system.

I noticed a bug on both Windows 7 and Vista. When i go into fullscreen, i dont know when it happens or what is triggering it but the taskbar will randomly show up on top of the fullscreen mode. It gets annoying especially when its attached to a TV.

I agree, an x64 build would be nice. I would also like to second the random appearance of the taskbar over top of the player window.

I would like to add that for whatever reason, HD video files are played slow/choppy on my system. It seems that VLC is unable to use hardware acceleration or something. Both Windows MediaPlayer and PowerDVD are able to play the same video files without any problems. CPU usage for my system averages about 67% for VLC and about 6% for the other players. Until these problems are solved, I regret to say that I won't be using VLC :(

Here are my specs in case it helps:

AMD Phenom 8450 @ 2.1GHz
2GB RAM
Radeon 3200HD (onboard)
Soundblaster X-Fi
LG BD-ROM
Seagate 500 GB SATA HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Yep. Current VLC stable releases cannot use DXVA for video decoding. VLC 1.1.0 should support that for H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.
