Playlist playback speed

When playing back a playlist it would be great if VLC had the option to keep the current playback speed when it finished with one video and moved to the next. For example, if I'm doing a quick review of security footage at 8x it would be very helpful if VLC kept the 8x speed as it moved from one file to the next (security footage is often filmed in chunks of just a few minutes so that when the recorder loops back and starts overwriting earlier video its only a few minutes at a time that is overwritten).

Yes, please do something about it!!
I listen to audio books at 1.5x or 2x playback speed. I have to manually increase the playback speed each time vlc opens the next audio file in the playlist!!!!

In VLC 1.1.x you can set global playback speed from Tools -> Preferences. And you can also create new VLC shortcut which starts VLC with that option in case you use VLC for normal playback also.

Hello, I am on VLC media player 1.1., but either I am going blind or what..... I cannot find the option to set a Global Playback Speed from the preferences. I went to the help button that took me to an annoying and confusing wiki place, where the search engine didn't bring up anything clear about this subject.

Can you please tell me how to turn on a Global Playback Speed which is locked? Where is it exactly in the preferences and what is it called? There is nothing in my preferences that says anything about a global playback speed In simple or the advanced mode.
