auto-adjust brigthness/contrast of videos

Postby estellnb » 14 Sep 2009 12:02

Many users wanna use VLC to view their own movies. For this purpose an automatic or manual brightness & contrast adjustment would be a good thing since self made videos are rarely perfect.

Manual brightness & contrast adjustment is already available, auto-adjust not yet.
You can access the manual adjustment via Tools > Filters and Effects (Ctrl+E).
Then in the "Adjustments and Effects" window go to the "Video Effects" tab and enable "Image adjust". Then you can change brightness and contrast to your liking.

Ok. A possibility to save manual per video color adjustments would be nice. They could be stored as .vlc-adjustments in the directory the original video resides (as we possibly do not want to alter the video). A reset button to reset all parameters of color adjustment would be quite handy (not just to fully disable color adjustment).

People don't always have writing rights to these folders. Also this would fail for HTTP, RTP etc.
