There should be a CE build coming. (AFAIK it doesn't have official release date yet)

j-b said it should come when 1.0.0 comes: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=55357

Hopefully that hasn't changed too much

Well, there is still some work to make it work for normal human beings.

Is all that's left the GUI? Last I heard, there was basically no user interface

I really want a good media player on my phone.
Untill VLC isn't 100% WindowsMobile proof(no gui yet) use this: http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/
TCPMP is a mediaplayer that discontinu because it's commercial now, but the url i gave is a mirror with all the files+plugins of the latest open version 0.72RC1.
I have it on my HTC-Touch (WM6.0), and it really plays a lot when all plugins are installed too(especially compared with Windowsmediaplayer mobile).
If you got windows mobile then you can download of the given link "Windows mobile Cab"(be shure you choose the right platform, Pocketpc or smartphone or other, most new devices of today are pocketpc compatible) and download all the plugins"Additional plugins for all platforms"
here you can get the AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) plugin for TCPMP: http://rapidshare.com/files/31368947/tc ... 6.zip.html . Their is also a flash plugin for tcpmp http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-dow ... -v0-4.html
Sync windowsmobile device to computer and drag all the *.cab files to storage card of mobiledevice. After that click on the *.cab files once at a time(begin with tcpmp afterthat the plugins) , when storage/install location is asked prevent ram and prefer storage card.

Advice for windows mobile devices; Install applications on the storage card, not in the ram(working memory).

You need to find a build that was compiled for 6.1. Check out XDA, I've seen it there

Is someone actively working on a GUI, or is this something that someone needs to step in and do?

I have no clue. Maybe some in IRC channel could answer that.

Anyone have any updates? IRC was a bust the few times I went in there. I never actually found whoever was supposed to be in charge of the GUI, their name slips my mind

Anyway, I thought maybe...hopefully, some news has traveled around?

I haven't seen anything GUI related on mailing list. (debug symbol removal is last WinCE entry I have seen)

Well I noticed CE nightlies started appearing, but it looks like it's currently only for CE, and not Windows Mobile. I tried to run it on my phone, and got a "'VLC' is not a valid Pocket PC application" error

Is support for Windows Mobile planned/coming?
