receiving VNC-Protocoll

Postby jr1 » 26 Jun 2009 16:59

Hi to All

I'n new here, and im not sure about the right forum.

We are looking vor a client like vlc to receive a data stream, send by a vnc server.
The result is: the display from a winXp workstation ist send to a linux system, running vlc client for streaming to a mpeg File.

There using vlc the stream can be served, to check, what was shown on the display.
The reason is a industrial solution like e video recorder, so that the display can be reviewed, after a problem to the plant.

thanks to any answere

Jo.

VLC can read VNC servers.

VLC can also stream a desktop using screen://

http://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Modules/screen

Wiki search doesn't give any results for VNC, so I don't know if there is any documentation for it

Hi,
thanks for the answere.
I downloaded vlc 1.0 and start trying.
Setup an VNC server works fine. I tested it by http an firefox.
Starting vlc, it try to open an network stream.
but I can not setup a right protocol. The orgin vnc rfp protocol seem not supported.
So I try to use http protocol.
due I was not able to setup the port I try to use host:portno because the field port was unable to enter

Starting, the was no message, no reaction.

I do not know, who to try it.
thanks for answeres

You can insert the port to URL, so something like http://192.168.1.1:8034

I know this thread is all but dead but has anyone had any luck with this? Using VLC as a view-only VNC client?

Hi,

I am keen in learning how to use VLC as 'view only' VNC client too !

I noticed there are command lines available for VNC features, but where do we key in those command lines? and is it possible to use it with libVLC WPF ?
