Yes! Yes!
Closed Captions do NOT equal subtitles.
ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming.Best, I'm glad we're on the same page! Where shall I send the DVD iso to for analyzing - upload it to one of your servers or to a third-party website somewhere?

2. It's part of the Picture User data
3. EIA 708 ATSC is supported on H.264/AVC encoders
I also guess that the Wikipedia entry will answer most of your questions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EIA-708
There is a DVD with CC on jones (9GB)Vlc supports 608 and basic 708 in at least MPEG2. I'm not sure about DVDs with CC, it's not really tested. samples are welcome at the upload server. http://streams.videolan.org/upload/
(note that this is late 0.9.* and 1.0.0 only btw)
Anime are subs not CC.Newbie here,
I saw this post and got all excited.
Because my first posts were about ''su'btitles", but after reading here, it is the same as requesting for CC.
I am in complete agreement about the need for CC, but not only those with the US {code region?)
Admittedly I am an anime fan, but the CC of other programs for general entertainment as well as
educational purposes have a CC format. For example when in "study" mode having the CC of the native language Spanish/Japanese, is helpful.
That's why I'll add my 'twist' to this request.
Can there be an option added where the CC/subtitle will play based on instance?
Either highlight the selection within a playlist to note the need of a CC/sub activation when it plays within a playlist?
And/or allowing for a continual play and cc.sub selection?
Thanks in advance,
and thanks to those that make VLC work...
