HDTV in VLC

Postby skoria » 09 Dec 2004 20:50

Hello, I am thinking of spend a lot of money (600 $) in a grafical PCI card, and I am not sure. I want to watch HDTV with a perfect quality, but I am not sure if VLC is going to use the capability of the card.

Could anybody explain me if VLC works over Software , or over the Hardware capability?

Could anyone advise me about a good card to decode HDTV?

Thank You Very much.

vlc uses the video card only for color conversion and scaling. These features are awailable on most cards available nowadays. with a graphics card that supports this, and a cpu of about 2ghz, you should be able to play hdtv with vlc just fine.
