interface buttons

Postby Abeille » 19 Sep 2008 22:54

Greetings,

Excuse me if it has already been asked i haven't taken time to search the forum for this one. When im using VLC to play my music or clips, first thing i usually notice is the lack of a "random" or a "repeat" button on the interface. Usually i use both these function pretty often for any media i play, i was wondering if it would be possible to include them eventually.

thank you

When using VLC, for just about any media types i "normally" use things like;

"play/pause" "stop"
to move forward or backward i just use the timeseeker bar most of the time, "forward" and "backward" when having a playlist only, dunno if it work with chapter with dvd, never tried it.

For the misc buttons, i normally use "fullscreen" or the equalizer often as the repeat or random. Thats why i was asking, most player include it directly on the main bar because its often asked.

Anyway, thanks for your time, your reply was really fast and i appreciate it.

Different usages... Well, you will be able to add those, when I will make the toolbar modifiable. so 1.0, maybe

That is a very useful idea. Hope you will introduce it.

Why on the interface is there no repeat toggle button - so that we can toggle between repeat single track, repeat playlist or repeat off.

Another separate issue (sorry to sound a nag) - Also I have tested the 0.93 git nightie and some mp3 files with embedded album art and extra meta data is still not showwing in 'media information'

Yeah, but I have no idea on how to code that...

There is. Open playlist, and it is the button on the right of the shuffle button (the 3rd button in total). Click to change from NoRepeat-->Repeat1-->RepeatAll

jb, i'm sure you will be able to! I believe in you haha. I dont' know if this helps at all, but Firefox has a modifiable toolbar function. Perhaps you can steal some code from there? (No idea if it is even in the same programming language!)

Me has been wanting this too. Firefox is a good program to "borrow" code from, if at all possible. :P

Not possible. They code in XUL, we code in Qt.
