Append date-time stamp to recorded filenames in VLM

Postby dinki » 02 Jun 2008 19:18

I'm using VLM to record video/audio from my usb tv capture card. Right now things work great, but I'd like to use the same broadcast element instead of having to write a seperate one each time so that I don't overwrite the file recorded the day before. As it stands now, each day the recorded mpeg from the previous day is overwritten.

Ideally, it would be great if we could use the same media settings (broadcast element) each time but could have the filename have the start date and time appended to it ('myrecording-053108-2230.mpg') or something along those lines. If I use the same broadcast element again the next day the filename would change accordingly. I'd be happy just figuring out a way to keep from overwriting the file each time. Date/time is not a necessity but a unique filename is.

I'm using winxp and would prefer not having to write a special batchfile just to get a unique filename.

Thanks!
