VLC is my favourite player but I think (i'm not alone to think) that there's not enough skins and it is complicated to click on a special shortcut for have a permanent skin...

The skins are made by users (like you!), developers are usually bad at graphics stuff
Feel free to create more skins...

As for the shortcut, you can select the default interface in the preferences, so that VLC starts with the skins2 interface even if it is started with the regular shortcut, or with a double-click on a file associated to VLC.
