transcode - rawvid or imgs - an idea?

Hello everybody,
I have a real-time computer project to do about video, and calculation in it's frames. So, for any video, I have to do some maths on it, and to do so, I must have an easy access to any pixel of any frame (of any video).
I first think to transcode the video to a rawvid file, but I don't know how to access a specific frame in a rawvid. Then, I think that VLC may do that job for me ? I know that VLC is usable with command lines, but I'm not familiar with those of VLC...
I'm sure I'll find a good help in that forum

PS: sorry, I speak English ... or not !
