I am using Any Video Converter Professional to capture & convert various file formats. It works good only to capture You Tubes. It cannot capture other URLs when copied & pasted. Though its conversion is versatile.
Could you suggest a a better capturing software that can capture most if not all besides You tubes.
Thanks.

You could use the Firefox extension "Video DownloadHelper" or "Flash Video Downloader". They work with most sites, enabling you to download the flash video (.flv). You can directly play it with VLC or convert it with VLC to another format.

Google Chrome also has add-ons, maybe there is one that does a similar job as the Firefox add-ons.

In trying to answer my own Newbie question about downloading videos other then You Tube (no forum responses to date), I tried my AVS4You screen capture feature within the AVS4You Video Recorder software. It worked but since it was my first attempt I did not have a perfect outcome (Life is a Learning Curve:). I need to correct the audio capture settings.
I believe VideoLAN also has a video capture feature but I need to confirm this and learn how to use it. If anybody knows how to properly use it and has some time to respond please point me in the right direction. Thanks! Jaykay12

I wouldn't recommend capturing the video with a screen recording software, it will result in quality loss. Look for an add-on to your browser. There are plenty for Firefox which automatically recognize flash videos and give you the option to download them.

I already mentioned some in the second post of this thread. If you care to read...

Although the extensions are a good idea, an alternative is that there are websites that serve the same purpose. You type in your URL, it locates the files available for download, and you choose which quality you want.
The downside is that each site has to first know in what way/locations to find the files beforehand, so none of them can handle all sites, but between them they handle a lot of the major ones.
Here are a few of them:
TakeYouTube
KeepVid
