I just finished the initial exploration of using Apple's new iMovie HD to assemble and edit a test file which could be burned to a CF (Compact Flash) - inserted into a Roku allowing the animation to be played on a HDTV. HDTV to me is the Holy Grail of presentations, a HUGE canvas, onto which you can display compelling sights and sound.
The experiment was a success and it now has several companies talking to each other. Amazing thing about it, this technique allows you to create 1 MB per second of animation. A 1GB rewritable CF card will display approximately 10 - 16 minutes of material. The material is 1920x1080 @ 29.9 fps. <-- could you ask for more?
The file at High Definition is 31 MB in size, 29.9 fps @ 1920 x 1080 resolution, true HD. It displays on a 51" HDTV, crystal sharp, snappy, no lag. You need to run it using a Roku, but $299 is much cheaper than the $2,000 HDCAM Steve Jobs showed us.

I would like to know, is there any other method of creating a file readable by the Roku. Currently I export out of iMovie HD using the format : CVCPRO HD 1080i60 and then I load that file into Mainconcepts MPEG2 Mac and export as a MPG ts format file. Is there any other way to do this? The Mainconcepts software cost more than my Roku. Thanks for any tips.
