Why does the homepage say
VLC media player 1.0.4 while we're still at 1.0.3 ?

Because version 1.0.4 is finished and there are already some builds for Linux, but there is not yet a binary for Windows. That's why.
Windows binaries tend to be release only some days after the official release. Which I find annoying and do not understand.

Not true... VLC releases all happen at the same time.
1.0.4 will be linux only, that's all.

There were already some versions were the src and linux binaries were released before the windows binaries. I believe it were some revisions in the 0.9 series.
I thought that was the same here again.

Well, that was before. I wouldn't allow that again, and as I am the defacto release manager of VLC 1.0.x...

So, the news announcement for VLC 1.0.4 says "Binaries for Windows and Mac OS are not yet on the pipe."
http://www.videolan.org/news.html
If it is indeed only going to be for Linux, why not say that instead? Saying they are not yet on the pipe makes people think they are coming in the near future. (or that they haven't started smoking crack yet...)
Is there going to be a 1.0.4 for windows and mac?
