The project is like this, we need to make a stream to a website of 40 ip cameras.

I did connection from camera to VLC player and streamed it FLV on website. The question is how do PC will work when it will have 40 running VLC client on it, and for 100-200 users connected to that VLC.
Anyone made such big streamings with VLC? Is it stable in this case?
Ofcourse i will have cool server pc for this with biiig traffic, but i think you understood my question.

Would be more than glad if anyone from project development will answer me on this.

Thanks!

If the streaming will be from pc(where vlc is installed) not camera, why are interested in camera load?

I think j-b means how much load one instance of VLC streaming one camera takes.

my opinion 1 vlc will have load maximum 10 users. This is maximum.
Yesterday i tested 2 cameras streamed via VLC with 30 users and there was no any problem - the CPU was 10% only ( and this was just simple HP workstation)
