Hi everyone

I’ve just joined this forum because i am after a bit of advice. I have found this product

Newtorked Freeview tunner (HD HomeRun). It has just become available in the UK from pctvok.com and is only available from this company in the UK at a pre-launch offer of £159 INC VAT and Delivery

So if anyone one has one of these products or knows a lot about them. Please tell me weather it's worth getting? ASAP so i can get it whilst there still reduced.

Thank you everyone

Hi. Sorry for the late response :-)

Speaking for the USA (ATSC) product it is a truly great device. As it's built in the UK, I imagine it would work as well for you to. But there's a catch. I tested a short clip of an MPEG2 file with the current VLC, and found that it was unable to decode the file successfully -- a stream of errors, no picture. (Built from source, so I could have missed something critical. The VLC build is quiet about such things, unfortunately.) The same clip played fine with mplayer. My guess is that as the HDHR starts at an essentially random point, VLC was unable to synchronize.

The HD HomeRun is a tuner for Over The Air digital TV transmission, capable of handling two channels at the same time. The antena connection goes in (two connections) and two MPEG2 streams come out on an ethernet connection. Software is provided to manage all this. The user connects to an HDHR tuner, specifies the channel and file. That's all there is to it.
