Legal VLC branding/Re-packaging Question...

Hi, really sorry if this isn't the place to post this question, but i have started a non-profit org (U.S...Virginia)...character building/team building sports non-profit... my target is coaches (i am an NCAA basketball coach) and i want to provide resources/tools for them. I see VLC as a HUGE asset... our team currently invested over $6,000 for video software, much of which i see VLC as being able to do for free with a couple of small additions. Could I pay to have a few things developed for VLC and then post VLC FOR FREE on my website w/ my branding coupled w/ VLC branding -i.e. my non-profit logo along side VLC's?? (err...i guess my modified version of VLC). ...i appreciate any help in this area.

Yes, you can do this.
But if you made any modification, you should provide the source code of those modifications to your users...

Else, no problem.

Hi,

Is the above rule(need to publish the modified source code to users) is applicable to all organizations(Including non-profit or profit making)? We would like to change the vlc logo and the vlc player name to something else. Is this legally valid?

Regards,
Bala
