.hme file? (off DVR/security PC)

Postby brendan » 09 Jan 2009 06:00

Hi all

Was wondering if anyone knows about this...

I have some container (?) files with extension .hme. The files also have accompanying .idx files, ie say there's a 123.hme file, there's also a 123.idx file. I obtained the files from a Windows XP machine running some DVR software (called DVR 2400, but I can't find any official info on it). It was used as security system.

Does anyone know how I can play them or convert them into a common format? I tried just opening a .hme file in VLC, and it gives the following error:

VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of '123.idx' cannot be detected. Have a look the log for details.

Notice the error specifies the .idx file, even though I open the .hme...

Google results bring up something related to TiVo, but nothing relevant so far.

BG

Never heard of those... idx are usually linked to subtitles.
