...than Windows Media Player? By "better" I mean as to user friendliness. Can I download music from various sources, put various types or songs together in groups of subjects for future play back? Will I be able to use internet provided album art or will I be able to or have to create art of my own?
These may seemingly be basic questions but I have in the past tried VLC media player and made a hash (i.e. make a muddle or bungle) of it.

My computer had a hard drive failure and I am now just getting back to relaunching VLC. Which is why I'm here to try to understand how to use VLC correctly and get the best results and be more effective in using its capibilitys. I did prior searches of FAQs and the forums but nothing seemed to clear my confusion.

You'd better try AIMP, from my personal experience - this is the best free audio player and it's just a modern version of Winamp ;j
