Topic for discussion - What's the best Smart TV to use with VLC?

Hello,
I'm looking at getting a new TV in the future. I've had great success watching videos from my laptop onto my samsung Galaxy mobile phone and tablet using the android VLC apps, and Universal Media Server on my laptop. I know that VLC does make apps for Smart TVs but that different brands can use different programming languages (some use android, some have their own proprietary etc) so I image that there may be some slight differences between the different versions (not to mention the varying hardware in the TVs themselves.)
So in your own opinion, what is the best brand of Smart TV to get that has the VLC app, will work with UMS, has decent file navigation (simple list style, not fancy netflix/plex style - I can organize my own media thank you) and has no problem playing a vast majority of video files including hevc .mkvs. And can handle subtitle files hopefully.
And does this brand/model come in 3D? And will VLC play 3d files? (not super necessary, I'll still have a 3d bluray player).
Thanks.
