Please help, going crazy trying to figure out.

I have downloaded some phone conversations. The app says I have to use VLC to download/open them. It saves them as a 3gpp file, but WONT OPEN THEM UP. I'm not to computer literate, but can usually troubleshoot and I am stumped. I can't even find a legit site to convert them. I get the following error from VLC....

VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of 'file:///C:/Users/Wendy/Desktop/SystemsJN/SystemA712f4b2eccd0b148_2016-12-06%2011-46-04.3gpp' cannot be detected. Have a look at the log for details.

WTH? Why can't it recognize it when they're the ones who chose what file to put it under? Evidentally, it's a video file? I have tried on my laptop as well as my cell phone. If anyone can shed some light on this i will forever be grateful.

Thank you SO much in advace for any help.

Hi Mslea.
Please don't go crazy.
Just convert your file online to MP3.

Ive tried converting with every site available. I get error messages from them too. I think I have pin pointed it down to the "codes". However, I know nothing about them. It opened before from my cell phone now it wont on either laptop or phone.

Are you sure those 3gpp are valid?
