copying video file from one PC to another

I have Windows 8.1 on my desktop. I have a video (audio as well) that I want to copy to my laptop. If I highlight the file on the PC it will play just fine. If I then click on Copy and then paste it on to a USB stick and then try to play it. VLC opens but jitters and the video will not play. If I ignore this and try to copy it to the laptop, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? The laptop version of VLC is the latest as I just downloaded it. It plays other short videos just fine. TIA

Have you tried uploading to your dropbox or google drive account? sometimes when you transfer a file to a usb, it corrupts the file

Yeah, I agree with Justinbiebsfan32's suggestion. Dropbox is a free service that allows you to easily store and share your documents, videos, and photos and always have them on-hand when you need them.

Are they both on same network? Try sharing over network.

i think there is something wrong with the USB drive. You can directly try transfer the videos via skype or other LAN transfer app, then see what happens
