Rescue a damage mpeg2 file

Hi all,
I have an mpeg2 file that has his time base that has been damaged by a data corruption. Basically it contains all the pictures of the movie but most of the players are not able to read it because the synchronisation gets lost at some points. With VLC I can read it - this confirms how great is this tool - so I wanted to stream it to another VLC player where I planned to store the incoming flux into a new file. Thanks to that I could expect that the timing could be then recreated. Sadly this is not working because the stream get stuck at some point.
Any idea, any hint would be more than welcome.
