taking off part of a video

Postby snoopyflyingace » 16 Oct 2015 17:07

Hello,
I wonder if someone can tell me how to take part of a video out. I have downloaded one that I think would be a great screensaver if set on continuous loop. The problem is I don't want to writing that it includes during the first and last 5 seconds of it. I'm old and not very computer oriented. Can anyone help me please?

Best is to use a dedicated video editor.

Some examples of free and open source ones, among other ones:
Avidemux
Shotcut

A bit late to the conversation, but Handbrake (free & open source) can do this too.
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.
