OBS vs. VLC

Postby Ultrapower » 03 Mar 2015 23:35

Why is x264 Transcoding using less CPU Power on OBS ??

I can use "slow" Preset with my Capture Card with about 50% CPU Load, the same Preset with same Bitrate on VLC gives me 80-90 % WTF :(

And this is not all, Picture Quality of the Stream looks better on OBS too ...

Why is VLC Streaming/Transcoding so inefficent ? :?

It's probably not the same settings.

As i noticed, i have activated the Option "FULL RANGE" to stream with Full HDMI Video Color Range (4:2:0) from my Decklink Capture Device in OBS.

In VLC Playback Info it says: " Planar 4:2:0 YUV full scale "

This important Option is missing in VLC !!!! Thats why the Stream looks better in OBS , why is this Option not available in VLC :?
