I have thousands of video clips, in several different formats. Since I downloaded VLC, all of my files have this stupid looking cone as an icon. To make it worse, there's no difference in the cones' appearance from file type, to file type. How do I get rid of the cones, or at least change appearance between file types?

well on win 7, you can go to start --> default programs --> set your default programs and assign media to another player but you will lose vlc as the default opener. i suppose you could look into putting a feature request through asking icons to be different for different file types.
