Can someone tell me what x264 binaries are/do? normally i just use handbrake but apparently there are "binaries". will various transcoders use x264 upon installing?

theres also 10b. i'm assuming the differences are 8-bit/10-bit do i need both?

Binary, a set of executable code, opposed to source code.

Like when you download an exe file, it says to be an "binary file". The source code files must of course also be "binary", but you just non't say that.
