VLC & IP camera's

A bit dazzled by the huge amount of topics, questions and answers, people etc. makes me searching...newby allert!!
I would really appreciate to have contact with someone who could help me solving a technical issue concerning the use of VLC media player and capturing a stream from IP camera's.....

I connect my Sony DH160 camera to vlc with rtsp://IP-ADDRESS/media/video1
