use google code hosting for the downloads?

Just a thought, I know with my own OSS projects I recently moved the "file hosting" part from sourceforge to google project hosting (just for the download distributables). Why? Because the sourceforge download page is filled with ads that confuse people, for instance this page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/fil ... e/download has big links for "Download!" that don't download the right thing.

Google code download speed seems a bit faster, too, though I haven't done any scientific download testing. Plus no 4 second delay, etc.
Anyway food for thought.
Cheers!

Google Code is complete crap, in terms of features, mirrors, analytics, and speed...

Seems fine speedwise from what I've seen but if you've had experience otherwise I can't question that.

You don't seem to realize the quantity of VLC downloads per day. We would KILL Google Code downloads very fast.

Maybe you could ask them to make a special dispensation for your project <grin>

Anyway, another option might be something like...they click on "download" it opens the download page in a "separate window/browser tab" and also popups a javascript alert "download will start in 4 seconds" or what not. anyway just thinking out loud, thanks for a great product I cannot *believe* you guys even try to support it. Like...who's paying your full time wage for this? So thank you!

Noone is paying us.

If we leave SF, it will be for our own solution.
