Presenting on 2nd screen automatically

Postby Muxson » 26 Sep 2018 04:55

Hi All,

I noticed in several occasions how AV operators are struggling to present a video on a 2nd screen, typically a projector setup for a meeting.
First you see a VLC window being dragged over to the projector, then if the video has a higher definition than the projector, the navigation buttons are not visible. The operator has to reduce the window. Then only the Play button is pressed, followed by Full Screen and possibly Volume adjust.
And because the projected screen is fare and small, it is difficult to see the pointer...

Doing my research, I found out about the Command Line switches that can be use to help do a better job in presenting automatically in Full Screen on the second screen.
But using Command Line demands a bit of practice and knowledge.

So I wrote a small (1MB only) piece of software that takes care of the geeky stuff and allows anyone to drag-and-drop one (or more) video on it (or to a shortcut to it) and it presents on the 2nd screen, in full screen mode.

Interested to try it?
Have a look on http://www.muxson.com/vlp
Have fun with it!

Comments welcome!

Cheers,
Muxson

I created this account to ask for something very similar thank you very much for the work. :geek: People like you are awesome! The question I want to know is I have a 3 monitor Mac display arrangement. And sometimes I want to shift the video to a certain other screen, but mainly I want to watch it on my main display normally. Are there shortcuts for that or is that a hard thing to write into the script?

VLP is a Windows program so I did not try it on a Mac.
If you do, let us know how it works.

As for a 3rd screen, no problem. VLP is listing every monitor found in your system and lists them in the pull-down under "2nd Display is #:".
I tried that and it works just fine. See the picture below (or use that link https://www.dropbox.com/s/il32ul05pmqhr ... n.png?dl=0).

The only thing is that the numbering do not match the Windows OS numbering. You have to figure out which is which.
But that is not a bid deal and once you know, it should always be the same until you change your monitors configurations.
