Who use VLC

VLC is media player so a person with media might use VLC. Normal average user might have video files originated from her camera and then she wants to play these on computer. This computer runs maybe Windows or OSX. In this average case VLC can act as an alternative video player. So my question is really why an alternative video player?

VLC is also the core video player in Linux. So obviously VLC is significant in that market. But VLC is pushed to all users. Why? One reason might be easiness. Development business for Linux can be easily transfered to Windows. This is just my guess.

I don't think VLC is being pushed to all users. I use it because I prefer it over other players.

I started using VLC because it would play files the OS supplied viewer would not.
and found it will easily do so much more. now always my default!

It is the best player for me. each time I reinstall OS, I download VLC.

I have a MacBook Pro the media player for Apple is Quick Time, VLC do have more functionalities like A B loop for instance or a really fine tune for the speed of the videos, Quick Time have only five different speed, sometimes I look videos spoken in Thai language, so I can slow the videos only a little to understand better these people speaking Thai hardly slower, with the cursor it's very precise, with 25% slower it's too much and changed the voices tone too much deep.

I love VLC Media Player because I bought a set of DVDs and some DVDs are without subtitles but with VLC, I can add subtitles to my DVDs and enjoy watching my DVDs.

I saw it had over 1 million downloads on my end plus for about 4 weeks I've seen 1000's listeners tune in to my broadcast using VLC so I am sure it is quite popular toady at least. world wide even in countries that cenanova cast can't identify 1000's
