In search of the best video player

Postby SpectateSwamp » 30 Nov 2010 15:15

There is little doubt that mpeg has become the standard video format on the net and home video.

Waaay back (2002) when this app's video capabilities were being added; Mpeg gave you the ability to start and stop play anywhere in a clip. For that reason Mpg format became the focus. (Avi Wmv and Vob) videos do play.

When developing custom software; you can suit yourself and that's just what this beauty does. The program has features the others will be working on for years.

The 'golf' option plays each short video clip then its' last 3 seconds (the swing) in slow motion. Within 10 minutes of leaving the golf course the nearly 200 video clips (from 2 camcorders) are up and playing on the clubhouse screen. No software does it better or faster than that. None.

A similar feature for wild wild party video gigs. The Profanity Delay / Censorship option 'XXX' prevents the final 3 seconds of video from playing. Someone says something nasty. Shut off recording. Someone does something illegal shut off recording etc etc.

By creating a 'mini' video (2secs or less) as the golfers approach the tee; a 'group break' record is created. Now the play back can be done 'random by foursome'. OR for Real Estate - shoot a mini clip outside the house and 5 or 6 from inside and have videos play 'random by property' in the office window.

This player can play a random segment in a random video then freeze for 4 seconds on the last frame as a screen saver!!! If you have lots of video you'll want random.

Swamp Video has a number of other great video features. The above are the key ones the competition doesn't have.

No matter how fantastic each Video format may be; MPEG or otherwise. They are nothing without great video playback capabilities. Swamp video and desktop search is by far the greatest mpeg player to date. Or any date.

Time-line playback makes doing video easy and fast. No video editing - No Joining videos - No Splitting videos.

All you VLC video gurus are being "Called Out" to the "2010 Digital Video Showdown"

http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic ... -showdown/

The King of Digital Video wants a piece of the so called video techies. Bring 'em on.

come on over - See how your Mega posting Mods / Demigods / Big Big Gunners do. When they aren't in control.

Me and my Swampies want to see you at the showdown. What great features does your video player have? Can they match these?

The Digital Video awakening is happening. Be there.

A minor change here and there just keeps moving this video player ahead.
EXAMPLE: Skateboarder jumps 6 steps. Tell the video to start 3 seconds before the jump at full speed. Then right before the steps switch to super slow motion. Right after landing back to full speed. (Most of the videos were short) I had 272 video clips of the SilverLight demonstration in Osoyoos 06July2011.

It works great for golf swing as well. Just one continuous play from 2 angles is all that is needed. Check the reshoot of this new feature. Swamp search just gets better and better and it's free free....

Reverse playback comming next.

Postby SpectateSwamp » 05 Nov 2011 15:36

I'll start working on playing in reverse today. That way I can better show off the Faster Than Sight objects I have been videoing. When software is this good, you can do things that are totally unexpected...

Grab a copy now and later with the new updates.

Watch Faster Than Sight objects HERE in slow motion

Postby SpectateSwamp » 04 Aug 2012 21:46

Want to see some Faster Than Sight action in slow motion?

Here is how...

http://www.archive.org/details/demo85-pict7 Download this 101MB file to a USB stick (it could take 1/2 hour or more)

place this small text file on the same USB stick.

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stone ... eosmix.txt

take a copy of this program and place it there as well.

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stonedan/search.exe

rename the search.exe to mpeg_videosmix.exe

Click on it and the action starts (Tobacco Leaf Flyer)

I'll be uploading more video playback for other archive FTS objects.

Cloaked mother ship is intercepted by one of the Swarm objects.

Spooked sparrow. He fluffs up his feathers an instant before the approach by a tiny object.

Super slow motion replay (multiple times) is needed to see these things.

Be prepared to get excited....

Player gets better and better - by far the best

Postby SpectateSwamp » 05 Aug 2012 22:37

See this simple demo to play one of my Faster Than Sight objects.
Download the video from archive.org 20 mins plus 99MB file
download the control file for the timeline playback
download and rename the most recent exe

the steps and links are here:
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stone ... flyers.htm
You don't need to know much to be leading the video pack.
By looking at the mpeg_videosmix.txt file you get an idea how to catalog and play your mpg les

Random groupings of LARGE text commentary and video

This video demonstrates how easy RANDOM non-linear playback is. Video without commentary soon loses its relevance.

Found it: the best video player

Postby SpectateSwamp » 13 Feb 2018 00:05

The new budge feature is truly something.. Like a wildly vibrating progress bar replaying segments.. Weird.

Use long descriptive filenames… I do.

Postby SpectateSwamp » 02 Nov 2019 20:03

Use long descriptive filenames… I do.
For Video… My app can use the filename to determine the part of the video I want to see. Without that feature.. You are scrolling through the video just like you would pictures.
the FN contains the start point, duration, speed, repeat, freeze and much more.
What a fantastic NewsReel feature this is.
Any media play should implement this easy and smart use of filenames.
now this is what long FNs can do. Use it or be left in the video dust.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJZfY6lxBaQ
I am constantly changing and upgrading the video names on my favorite clips.
Even putting the geo-location code in the name for proximity searches..
Long FNs are the overlooked jem in computing.
