High Def Sound support

Postby daaceking » 27 Sep 2013 09:55

Heyo,

I just want to clarify a few things. VLC supports full truehd i.e. 7.1/24/48/lossless bitrate
however,
only supports DTS digital surround [or is it the more basic "DTS express"] which on bluray is 5.1/24/48/1509?

i.e. the only difference is no dts lossless & no 7.1? i.e. the dts decoder for vlc is brilliant due to high bitrate and not all bluray are even 7.1.

Edit - if someone has windvd 10/11 or powerdvd 11/12/13, and he found a file inside called dtshd.dll, [pdvd 12/13 dts hd ma 7.1] could he put it in vlc so vlc could decode dts hd ma?

Yes. We do not support DTS-HD HRA and DTS-HD MA
