MWV1 codecs

Postby JimmyW » 05 Mar 2013 18:50

I have some AVIs that require Aware Motion Wavelets MWV1 codecs, which I can’t find. Apparently they’re older codecs and Aware is no longer around. Does anyone know a source or a workaround? Thanks.

The installers can be found here:
http://multimedia.cx/samples/drivers32/motionpixels/

IIRC AwareNT worked on XP but I have no idea if it's still working on recent Windows versions such as Vista and above.
Anyway they are 32 bits codecs so you must use a 32 bits player for the playback, MPC-HC for instance, otherwise it won't work.

Be aware there might be some issues though, so use it at your own risks:

Thanks very much. Those didn't work, but I did find another one at http://asvzzz.narod.ru/tools.htm, which worked on 32/64. However, on one machine, they crash each of my video players. There is no uninstaller - can you suggest how to manually remove the codec: Aware Motionwavelets Video. Thanks again!

Thanks. Yes, I did. The instructions are incorrect. What actually works is deleting the the icmw_32.dll and every reference to "icmw_" and "wavelets" in the registry.
