I've used VLC for a long time and never understood: "Why a cone?"

It dates back when VLC was just starting to be built and was in construction.
Then it became a joke at Ecole Centrale Paris... And there was a collection...
It stayed.

It is actually hilarious that the logo is a cone. I find it pretty amusing and the history behind it is also pretty amusing. The cone collection though is quite impressive.
