VLC and Apple

First, I am a long time VLC user and (under another email address) have modestly contributed financially to the effort. I am also a neophyte and not a technologist.

Perhaps this is not appropriate to this forum or to this discussion, but unlike the arrogant comments made by Denis-Courmon, I was surprised by the removal of VLC by Apple.

I am an end user who, over the years, has greatly appreciated the elegance and flexibility of VLC. I was greatly excited when I was able to load VLC on my iPhone and iPad. It afforded me wonderful features in a relatively lightweight application. I was also able to play content in formats that were not natively supported on the above mentioned gear.

So I WAS caught by surprise by the decision by Apple, fomented by Denis-Courmon, to pull the VLC APP. In retrospect I understand the conflict. I can understand the need for the action. But, if quoted correctly, the comments of Denis-Courmon are unconscionable. Denis-Courmon also suggested no one should be surprised and "I am not going to pity the owners of iDevices, and not even the MobileVLC developers who doubtless wasted a lot of their time".

Forgive me for being ignorant. I was an appreciative user of a great product, not a lawyer or inner circle confidant.

It is an unfortunate loss for those of us who have enjoyed the simplicity and ease of use of VLC on the iPhone and iPad. Again, I now understand the issue and am not attempting to induce a flame war, I just admit to being steamed by the condescending remarks of Denis-Courmon.

Thank you - I feel better, but saddened now.

Yes.

I'll work to try to push VLC back on the AppStore, but this is not guaranteed to work.

I am a developer and I agree 100% with Macmook.

In the end all that happens is the VLC Project is hurt. Potential people who would use the iOS app and then try the desktop app are gone.

Heyy I just came across this news. It really does hurt a lot. VLC on the iPod touch was the first application from the AppStore I couldn't live without :'(
(I have a jailbroken iPod touch, so I have non-AppStore apps too.)

I soo hope that it comes back in the AppStore.

Till then, I was hoping if someone could release it in Cydia? (so that at least people who have a jb can use this App)

Brothers I also agree with you for me VLC really hurts thats all I can say.
