For now, only QA tested/supported on x86 (32-bit) XP/SP3, Vista SP2, Win7, Server 2003/SP2.

Couple of questions:
1. Does any part of the SinCast 3 UI come up before crash?
2. Search for SinCast.log on the C: drive. Does this file exist?
3. Try running SinCast RC. Same crash?

Crash code looks like buffer overrun (memory access violation).

If you would like, send me an email (send to support at sinderon dot com) and I'll send you a test build that you can try out. Maybe I can isolate the code that is causing the problem :)

I've been checking out the app and just thought I'd make a suggestion to the developer.... I think this app really has potential as a serious alternative to products like the sonos, squeezebox and other pricey systems out there. What it lacks tho is a dumb proof interface preferably touchscreen friendly. For people like me who use a 7" tocuhscreens (hacked up eee 701 in kithcen) to interact with their media this would increase the sincast app's value x10 fold. No need for a mouse just touch and go (check out the interface for the sonos to see what I mean). To further that point an iphone/ipod or WM6 app to integrate would further extend its value.

Where most of the current solutions for multizone audio really bits is the price. For example the Sonos cost over $1,000 for the starter kit and about $300 to add a new zone. Instead people like me could use some low end box that's already laying around the house (give it wifi) and for the cost of sincast I have the same thing (excluding the nice interface)

BTW i'm planning on purchasing it. Worth every penny IMO.

Hi,

A new release (3.1.5.7) of SinCast 3 is available for download at sinderon.com. :)

This release includes a new Slide Show + audio streaming feature, support for x64 Windows 7 OS, and improvements to the HDHomeRun channel list dialog including sort by guide number.

Slide show streaming allows a collection of jpg image files contained in a folder or playlist to be simulcast to destination PC's. Each image is displayed for 10 seconds. A separate audio track or collection of tracks can be simulcast to the same destination PC's using the new SinCast VLC SA (Slide show Audio) Listener. Having separate slide show and audio streams provides flexibility in that either can be changed on the fly without disrupting the other.

Details about setting up and using the new Slide Show feature are posted in the FAQ at sinderon.com.

Refer to the release notes below for other changes and improvements.

Regards,

Tim

SinCast 3 Release Notes

on other media types.
- UPD: SinCast VLC Client that includes http-reconnect capability to enable
play back of slide show streams.
- UPD: Improvements in media path analysis and automatic UI settings.
- UPD: Automatic audio desync for dvr-ms files is now partially working. See FAQ.

So do you have any plans to develop/separate the remote control features to devices like the ipod/iphone or windows mobile? Would be great if for example I could use an ipod as a remote to control music throughout my house. As you can see I'm very keen on this feature (see my previous post). Please tell me this is in the future plans :)

I've thought about porting SinCast RC to iPod since it is essentially just a sockets app.

Is this what you envision a remote control app on iPod would look like, or are there other functions beyond SinCast RC's play/stop/vol/subtitles that would be included in this app?

Well yeah that would be a good start. Eventually though what I envision is being able to select a source (ie. choose playlist, url stream etc.), select which group to stream it to (ie general purpose group etc) then push it to the clients and be able to start/stop/play, adjust volume etc. Would be great to actually enable/disable certain clients from the group also. I guess function-wise what I envision is exactly what the sonos ipod remote control does. For now I have an idea of just using the iphone VLC remote http://hobbyistsoftware.com/VLC-more.php to at least control play/pause/stop/fwd/rewind functions using an ipod touch (just have to commit to buying one).

Actually here's another idea... why not create an web based remote control app using php (wish I knew how to code but I know about php's capabilities) then just create an optimized page for the iphone/ipod. This opens up other possible devices once an optimized page is created for them. This way i'd be possible for any connected network device to control.

As a real world example, in my case I have a PC that I use as the Sincast server and my clients are all over the house. It'd be an added bonus if I didn't have to actually go to the server to control the streams. If say I had an internal webpage which I could access from any of the clients OR an iphone/ipod, wm phone etc then I could be anywhere and have control. Could really open this thing up. Hopefully it doesn't sound like a brain fart but just my 2 cents
