Choosing installation components

Postby Rolvenden » 16 Aug 2009 12:31

As a newcomer, wanting to install VLC Media player, a dialogue box comes up asking me to choose which components I want to install. The type of installation is already selected as Custom, and every box except Mozilla plugin is already ticked. What's the difference between ticking it and not ticking it?

Ticked: it will be installed, you will have the VLC plugin in your mozilla browser
Unticked: it will not be installed, you won't have the VLC plugin in your mozilla browser

Choosing installation components

Thanks for the reply. I had guessed that much, but as I was adding the VLC Media player specifically in Firefox as a Firefox add-on, what surprised me was that the Mozilla box was not ticked automatically. That's what made me wonder if there was any more to it that I didn't know about. I shall now tick the box. I am assuming that Windows Media player will remain my default player until I specifically say otherwise?

The function to install it directly from Firefox as an add-on does merely download and run the standard VLC setup, where said check box is deactivated by default.
