Creating a streaming server.

Hello,

I am trying to set up a streaming server for videos I have here at home. The problem is a I cannot find a guide that works using the newest version of VLC (1.1.9). Could someone explain to me what would be the easiest way to set up a streaming server that plays multiple files. I hope what I am asking makes sense. If it doesn't let me know and I will try to clarify.

I currently have a VLC (1.0.2) server streaming 36 channels for an IPTV provider, can you please clarify what you are wanting to do so I can help advise? Would be willing to give you scripts, etc that I have built to do this.

Something I am trying to do is setup a VoD server wherein I specify a folder, and can view over an HTTP link. Unfortunately, the documentation provided is not very clear. Any assistance would certainly be appreciated.
