Video on demand

Postby Christ » 02 Apr 2005 05:07

Hello,

On my website, I have a video. I 've put the wmv file on the server
and the html code on my webpage for WMP is

Code: Select all

<embed src="http://www.mywebsite.com/cd/myvideo.wmv" type="video/msvideo" autostart="true" width="320" height="240">
. This is when people select the Windows Media Player file.
Everything works well.

But, if people don't have Windows Media Player, I would like to invite them to download VLC.
But which code can I writte to obtain the same result than with WMP : after downloading and installing VLC on their computer, they would select the 'VLC' button on my webpage and then they would be forwarded through the page where the video is playing automatiquely. And in the same time, I would like to know what is the appropriate extension for VLC to start.

Hum, I hope my English is understandable . :?
Thank you in advance for your help.

at least in mozilla it is the "type" field of the embed tag that is used to select plugin. In most cases the mozilla plugin for vlc will work as a drop-in replacement for wmp. I have personally used numerous pages designed for wmp with only the vlc mozilla plugin and no change to the page

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
