How vlc help us in Streaming Server..??
Look i've to work on my project that is related to video adaptation for heterogeneous clients/terminals.

The basic idea behind the project is to implement streaming server that can adapt available video contents for heterogeneous terminals. For example, in the case of video on demand (VoD) there is any video file available on any server. Different users can access this video file using distinct devices like PC, laptop, PDA, etc. that have different requirements to playback the video (data rate, temporal and spatial resolution, etc.) The server will adapt the original file according to the users terminal.

So please tell me.. can vlc provide some support for this??

I think you will have to create one stream for each type of client.
