RECONNECT TO STREAM USING DROID

Well, I can say i searched all the posts but have not found the exact answer. Here's my issue:
I can set up VLC to Steam Audio to my Driod via local or internet.
Once I connect to the stream with the Driod, no problem, i get my audio using the http type of format.
Once I disconnect from the stream with my driod, my pc that is streaming the live audio from my input port stops streaming.
I have reviewed reconnect commands and repeat commands but cannot make sense of them.
I need a better explaination to get this to reconnect to my Droid in case i loose my network connect and need to re-establish a connection.
Thanks in advance for help.

I stream to my droid using flash.
edit..
if you click on the links in my sig, you'll see i use a combination of flow player to do it.
i reread your thread.. my way is a little complicated.. but this is how i do it:
vlc on my windows machines sending UDP -> vlc on server takes UDP strings turns it into -> vlc on server side flash stream.
i can post some examples if you like.

Well, i like your idea and will continue to read your post...it is a lot to absorb right now.
I put the VLC Media player on another local client in my Wi Fi Network. when I connect to the stream I hear the audio like I should. When I disconnect, it still keeps the stream-streaming...so it appears the application on the Drioid, when I actually exit the application, also instructs the vlc media stream to stop.
The quick solution was to load on the android-vnc-connect application and launch a remote desktop session and just restart the VLC Media Stream.
that works great and takes little time.
My last hurdle is to see if I can stream using the rtsp format. I have tried every combination to stream to the droid and can't get it to work. I am doing that because i was hoping for a shorter latency. I have it down to about 15 seconds. On my other pc it is immediate-you can hardly notice any delay.
I was wondering how low I could get the latency with a different protocal other than streaming using http.
Thank you in advance for the other suggestions!

latency will most likely be your biggest issue.
maybe switching to UDP instead of http?
